Moraes
Claude Moraes MEP is Deputy Leader of the European Parliamentary
Labour Party (EPLP).
He has a background in promoting the rights of immigrants and
universal human rights in Europe and the world.
Claude is also Group Spokesperson on Civil Liberties in the
European Parliament’s Socialists & Democrats Group,
representing the Group on such important issues as US-European
information sharing agreements and travelling to Washington D.C. to
represent the interests of Europeans.
He is also dedicated to addressing the problems of a globalising
world, and is currently a member of the European Parliament's
Delegations for South Africa, India and the Gulf Region and Yemen.
Claude also takes an active interest in Pakistan and
Bangladesh.
From the European Parliament, Claude is working on positive
solutions to key issues such as asylum and immigration in Europe.
At the same time, he has written widely on those forces that
opposes positive solutions in these areas, in particular the
ongoing rise of a new far right in Europe.
