Speaking in response to today’s teachers strike, Labour’s spokesperson for Education, Cllr Amy Whitelock Gibbs, said:

“Today’s strike is a result of the Government’s unwillingness to listen to the genuine concerns of hardworking teachers.

“Of course the strike will cause significant disruption to parents and I urge the Council to do everything it can to help those affected. Though we must remember that it is Michael Gove’s attacks on teachers’ conditions and pay which have led to this strike and forced teachers out of their classrooms.”
