Local Spice Merchants nominated for the Tiffin Cup by MP

The Spice Merchants in Westferry has been nominated by local MP, Jim Fitzpatrick, to take part in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

Following the Tiffin Cup 2012, MPs have for the 8th year running, been asked to nominate a restaurant in their constituency. Last year a record eighty nine South Asian restaurants were nominated from around the country.

Previous local nominees have been neighbouring restaurant the Tale of India, the Dockmasters in West India Quay, and Gaylord and Memsaheb on the Isle of Dogs.

The Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2013 will be held at the House of Commons on Tuesday 2nd July 2013.

Commentating on the nomination Jim Fitzpatrick MP said:

‘I am delighted that the nomination for Spice Merchants has been accepted. This is a great competition which celebrates the very best of India food in Britain.

“The Spice Merchants is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of the constituency. It’s well known for its superb cuisine and service. Hopefully I’ll be cheering them on all the way to the Commons!”
