John Biggs, Labour's candidate for Mayor of Tower Hamlets, was joined by Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Caroline Flint MP, the General Secretary of the Labour Party, Iain McNicol, Rushanara Ali MP, supporters, activists and councillors from across London at a packed fundraiser at Tayyabs restaurant in Whitechapel this week.
The energetic gathering built on momentum generated early this week when the Tower Hamlets Labour Group and John Biggs made a number of bold election pledges including Free School Meals for every primary school child in Tower Hamlets.
Caroline Flint MP today said:
“With proposals like Free School Meals for primary school children John Biggs and Labour are saying 'yes these are difficult times, there are no easy answers, but we can choose to do things differently and we won’t let the situation we are in stop us helping those that need support.'”
John Biggs, Labour's candidate for Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said:
“It’s inspiring to see so many friends, activists and supporters here – we have a huge amount of work to do but I can feel we have the momentum in this campaign and with your help I know we can win in May.”
